Epoxy resin WEST SYSTEM

WEST SYSTEM is a company with 50 years of experience in epoxy.
The WEST SYSTEM line offers high quality, versatile two-component products that can be modified to provide a wide range of coatings and adhesives.
Ideal for construction and repairs requiring increased resistance to moisture and marine stresses.
Allows for the repair and construction of boats made of fiberglass, wood, aluminum, steel, composite materials, ferro-cement and polyester.
Designed for the harsh and rigorous marine environment and widely used in many applications within the construction industry, model making and the hobby market.

An innovative dosing system

The pump system has been developed for precise and convenient dispensing of 105 resin and hardeners.
They guarantee precise dosing of the resin/hardener mixture and eliminate all the mess associated with manual dosing.
The pumps mount directly on the resin and hardener cans and are calibrated to deliver the correct ratio of epoxy at each pump pressure.
Please note that the pumps are not the same depending on the hardener you are using and the packaging you have chosen!

Advantages of the epoxy WEST SYSTEM

  • Epoxy resin 105

    Epoxy resin 105

WEST SYSTEM Epoxy Resin 105

Resin 105 is the basic component of WEST SYSTEM products. It is a clear, light yellow, low viscosity liquid epoxy resin.

It wets and bonds to wood fibers, glass fibers and a variety of metals. This epoxy is also an excellent coating material. When applied by roller, it offers excellent thin-film characteristics.

Depending on the hardener you choose, it cures at a wide range of temperatures. Once cured, it forms a very strong solid with excellent moisture resistance.

  • Hardeners

West System Hardeners

Curing speed of the hardener

There are different hardeners depending on your needs (fast, slow, for coating and UV protection, extra slow). Choose your hardener according to the working time you will need for the project you are going to realize and according to your conditions / temperature constraints.

Open time and cure time

The choice of hardener is crucial in determining the open time and cure time. The open time determines the number of minutes available for mixing, application, smoothing, shaping, assembly. The cure time of the epoxy determines how long you have to wait before sanding or moving on to the next step in your project.

  • Fillers

WEST SYSTEM Fillers

With fillers, you can modify your WEST SYSTEM epoxy mix for specific applications. You choose the filler that is right for your project.

Adhesive & fairing

Each filler has a unique set of physical characteristics, but they can generally be classified into two categories: adhesive (high density) and fairing (low density) fillers. Adhesive fillers mixed with epoxy result in a strong, hard-to-sand material useful in structural epoxy applications such as bonding. Fairing fillers mixed with epoxy result in a lightweight, easily sandable material, typically used for surface applications such as shaping, filling or fairing.

Adding filler to a mixture of epoxy resin and hardener allows you to control the consistency of the epoxy, fill gaps in joints, create strong or sandable joints with the epoxy, or change the density of the cured epoxy to make it easier to sand.

Mix epoxy additives or pigments with the resin and hardener after they have been blended at the proper ratio.

Additives improve the abrasion or moisture resistance of the epoxy. WEST SYSTEM Epoxy additives include aluminum powder, barrier coat additive and graphite powder. Pigments are resin-based and modify the color of the epoxy. Pigments are available in white, blue, black or gray.

  • G/Flex glues

G/Flex Adhesives

The WEST SYSTEM® epoxy range includes everything you need for your project.

A versatile two component epoxy adhesive for permanent waterproof bonding of fibreglass, ceramics, metals, plastics, wood and fabric. • Fabrics

Fabrics

Once both surfaces have been bonded, profiled and shaped, WEST SYSTEM® fabrics can be used to add strength and durability prior to the application of the final coat.

The WEST SYSTEM range includes biaxial glass tapes and fabrics that can be used to provide reinforcement and/or abrasion resistance. Our tapes and fibres can be applied in multiple layers and combined with other materials to make composite parts.

These fabrics are very strong, with high tensile strength and compressive load capacity.

The successful use of epoxy requires accurate metering of resin and hardener. To achieve this, WEST SYSTEM metering pumps are calibrated for accurate metering of epoxy resin and hardener at the correct mix ratio, while eliminating guesswork.

Hardener 205 and 206: 301-5 pumps (ref: WS301-5A, B or C depending on resin and hardener packaging)

Hardener 207 and 209: 301-3 pumps (ref: WS301-3A, B or C depending on resin and hardener packaging)

Mixing and application tools

Whether laminating, coating, scraping or syringe injection, each application has its own specialized WEST SYSTEM® tool.

The majority of application tools are plastic and reusable. The smooth, flexible surface of the mixing pots, mixing sticks and syringes allows the epoxy to pull away from the surface once it has cured.
