The tear cloth saves you time when, for example, you are laminating. If you stop your work on Friday and you are not finished, you can use a tear-off cloth to protect your surface from polluting solvents.
The tear cloth allows you to remove the resin layer polluted by solvents. When you return to the job site, you can simply rip off the cloth instead of sanding and picking up where you left off. By tearing off the tear cloth you remove the polluting solvents.
